Using a community asset development approach, YouthBuild South Africa, in collaboration with corporate partners, foundations, government institutions, and local stakeholders, actively contributes to the development of underserved communities by creating sustainable community assets and promoting inclusive growth. Community Build projects focus on improving and developing critical infrastructure such as Early Childhood Development (ECD) centres, rural and urban schools, local libraries, community halls, sports facilities, and other essential public assets. Through this approach, the initiative not only delivers much-needed infrastructure but also fosters a strong sense of community pride and ownership among project participants.
The overarching goal of the initiative is to help build strong, vibrant, and resilient communities. Key objectives include fostering multi-sector collaboration, actively engaging local communities in the planning and development of important infrastructure, and creating meaningful platforms for corporate social responsibility. In addition, the community builds serve as a vehicle for local economic development by creating employment opportunities for youth, women, and community members at large, while enabling local entrepreneurs and artisans to participate in projects and grow their businesses.
YouthBuild South Africa invites foundations and corporate partners to collaborate in building sustainable community assets that create lasting social and economic impact. Through our community asset development approach, partners can support projects that improve schools, ECD centres, libraries, community halls, sports facilities, and other critical public infrastructure.
Partnerships begin with aligning shared impact goals, followed by the identification of priority community projects through a participatory needs assessment. YouthBuild South Africa manages project design and implementation in collaboration with professional teams and local stakeholders, ensuring community involvement, quality delivery, and sustainability.
Partners may contribute through funding, in-kind support, technical expertise, or employee volunteering. We provide ongoing monitoring, impact reporting, and storytelling aligned to CSI, ESG, and foundation objectives, creating opportunities for long-term partnerships that help build strong, resilient, and thriving communities.
Youth also receive Life Skills, Work Readiness, and Entrepreneurship Training, enabling multiple pathways to economic inclusion.
The programme strengthens social cohesion by positioning young people as partners in community development, not beneficiaries.
Participants learn teamwork, problem-solving, and leadership while contributing to their community’s development.
